Roast Turkey


Roast Turkey Recipe

Roast turkey is delicious and roasting turkey is not that difficult.  Here is the method to create roast turkey that will never be dry.

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degree F.  Have the turkey thaw to room temperature.  Remove giblets from cavity.  Run turkey under cold water to clean inside and out.  Never soak a turkey in water.  Dry it well.
     

  2. Rub turkey with salt inside and out.  Use about 1/3 teaspoon salt per pound.  Insert poultry pins to draw body open together.  Use string to lace between pins. 
     

  3. Tie legs together with string if the are not already tucked under a piece of skin.  Bend wing tips under the body and tuck loose neck skin under turkey. 
     

  4. Put 2 large pieces of aluminium foil crisscrossed in large roasting pan.  Place turkey breast side up on foil.  Cover turkey.  It should be be completely cover. 
     

  5. Cook in 400 degree oven for 20 minutes.  Reduce to 350 degree.  Cooked for 15 minutes per pound if turkey is over 10 pounds.  If under 10 pounds cooked for 20 minutes per pound. 

Dressing : 1 recipe Almond Stuffing

After salting inside of bird.  Filled body cavity with stuffing.

Almond Stuffing For Roast Turkey.

  •  1/2 cup butter

  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion

  • 1/4 pound smoked ham finely ground

  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley

  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme

  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

  • 1/2 cup fresh pork rinds crushed

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/4 cup dry red wine

  • 2/3 cup blanched almond

  1. Melt butter in large skillet,  Add onion, cooked until light brown.  Add ham, parsley and spices.  Mix well.
     

  2. Combine mixture with pork rinds, eggs, wine and almonds

Total Carbohydrate for roast turkey stuffing  : 41.6 gram
